DC for adequate drinking, sanitation facilities in schools

KATHUA: District Development Commissioner Kathua, Ajay Singh Jamwal, on Wednesday convened a meeting of officers to review the implementation of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) at conference hall, DC Office complex.
Chief Education Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, XEn PWD (Kathua/ Basohli), XEN PDD, XEN PHE, XEN STD,DEPO, Assistant Director Planning, all ZEOs ,JEs attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the DDC reviewed the zone wise progress of construction of school buildings under the twin education flagship schemes of RMSA and SSA.
CEO Kathua briefed about the construction works being executed in the district. XEN PWD also apprised the DDC about the status of under construction school buildings.
The DDC also reviewed the provision of water and power supply in newly constructed buildings and other schools of the district. He impressed upon PHE, PDD to ensure proper water and power supply in these schools.
The DDC laid stressed on the construction of toilets in schools especially in girl schools to achieve the goal of “Swach Vidhyalayas”. Instructions were passed to ensure time bound completion of school buildings under construction, while ZEOs were directed to frequently visit schools falling under their respective jurisdictions to have detailed review of facilities provided in the educational institutions.
The DDC stressed upon the need to hold ‘Community Participation Fetes’ at village level as per instruction of government. He passed strict instructions to ZEOs to ensure community participation meets of Village Education Committees (VECs) in the areas of their respective jurisdiction on 14th June at 11:00 AM. He said the aim of organising meets of the VECs is to sensitise the members about their role, duties and also to facilitate them for their achievements. He also directed the ZEOs to furnish a report about VEC fete information to the CEO office for further submission to higher authorities.
The DDC asked ACD and ZEOs to involve PRIs and village education committee members and ensure their maximum participation for successful holding of “community participation fetes”. He impressed upon officers to submit report of the event on the same day to CEO and also keep record of every activity. He also desired for photography record of the activities taken up as part of these fetes.
