DB issues directions in PIL regarding construction of lawyers’ chambers
JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed Bar Association Jammu and Sumit Nayyar seeking various development around Court complex including construction of lawyers’ chambers, parking, new road, health center and security of the advocates, judges and litigants, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Senior Advocate M.K Bhardwaj, Advocates Ranjit Singh and Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the state whereas Senior Advocate D.C Raina for the JKPCC, observed that Senior AAG assured that he will pass over the instructions to DIG Traffic Jammu to ensure that there is no traffic congestion within court premises and the road leading to the Court premises from Janipur Chowk and link roads, directed DIG Traffic to file compliance report within this week.
So far as releasing Rs 1 crore to JKPCC the executing agency constructing the lawyers’ chambers is concerned, Division Bench observed that reference was given by the counsel in which Division Bench directed Sr. AAG to file compliance report and he stated that Govt has already sanctioned a sum of Rs 54 lakh in favour of CE PWD Jammu for placement of same at the disposal of MD JKPCC but Senior Advocate D.C Raina appearing for the JKPCC said that no amount has been received by the executive agency till date and Upon this Division Bench directed Senior AAG to verify this fact and filed compliance report.
