DB imposes Rs 10,000 more costs on Comm Secy, Irrigation, Flood Control & PHE Department
PIL regarding delay in Artificial lake, Mubarak Mandi projects

JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by President, All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association Jammu, Inderjeet Khajuria espousing public causes including creation of Artificial Lake at River Tawi and Gandola Project from Mubarakh Mandi to Bahu Fort, a Division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Rajesh Sekri imposed Rs 10,000 more costs on Commissioner/Secretary to Govt. Irrigation, Flood Control & PHE Department.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed that vide order dated 28.10.2020, an opportunity was granted to the respondents to file status report subject to the payment of personal costs of Rs 15,000 by Commissioner/Secretary to Govt. Irrigation, Flood Control & PHE Department, however, the Registry has not reported with regard to depositing of costs.
DB directed Registry to verify whether the aforesaid costs have been deposited or not and in case, same has not been deposited, it shall be enhanced by an additional amount of Rs 10,000, i.e., totaling to Rs 25,000, which shall be paid by or before the next date of hearing. DB also directed AAG to file latest status report.
