Day 1: Over Rs 3 lakh Entertainment Tax collected

JAMMU: The Excise Department on Friday realised tax of over Rs 3 lakh on first day after the Government imposed 50 per cent Entertainment Duty on cinema halls located in Malls and Multiplexes.
Deputy Excise Commissioner Shahid Saleem told STATE TIMES that it was a challenge for team set up for the purpose to implement the nt orders and to collect the Tax.
“We have been able to collect over Rs 3 lakh on day one”, he added.
For the past 10 years, there was tax holiday to multiplex in Jammu, Shahid said, adding “the rates of Entertainment Duty chargeable from cinema halls allocated in Malls and Multiplexes will be 50 per cent of the amount charged for admission to entertainment per person per show from April 1, 2016.
