JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has demanded sacking of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their alleged role in the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident of a Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula suicide case.
Expressing shock over the incident in which a young scholar has ended his life, JKPCC chief G.A Mir demanded sacking of Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya for their alleged role in the matter.
He accused the Union HRD Minister of attempting to misrepresent the facts in order to mislead the nation over the issue which is evident by the exposure by the team of professors who have reportedly tendered their resignations from their administrative posts, protesting over the fabricated statements of Irani.
Mir said that in the wake of recent developments of contradicting the assertions of the Union Minister in the matter by ten professors of the University of Hyderabad and in the background of the situation which has emerged that HRD Ministry had written five letters to the University following Dattatreyas complaint that the campus had turned into a “den of castiest, extremist and anti-national politics”, the minister should be asked to step down immediately.
Mir expressed deep sympathies with the family of the deceased scholar and his colleagues who have been struggling for justice to the scholar and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
