Cultural Academy celebrates Rutt Rahre

JAMMU: ‘Rutt Rahre’, an old folk tradition of the region was celebrated here at Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Duggar Sanskriti Sangam, Batehra.
Dhian Singh, renowned Dogri writer, poet and folk artist while interacting with the audience said that the Festival Rutt Rahre is centuries old tradition of the region related to agriculture and is celebrated almost month earlier the rainy season. He said that this one month long festival is basically a trial of the choice of the crops to be seeded in the current year.
Lajwanti Devi and Party from Batehra were the main artists who completed all rituals of Rutt Rahre through
singing the Dogri folk particularly for this occasion along with decoration of Rangoli using herbal colors.
Dr Arvnider Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, while delivering his welcome address thanked Duggar Sanskriti Manch, Batehra, Lajwanti and Party and Dhian Singh for their cooperation and collaboration with JKAACL to organize this event.
