JAMMU: The Department of Environmental Sciences, Central University of Jammu has received University Grant Commissions (UGC) Start Up Grant awarded to Dr. Anita Singh.
Under this grant Dr. Anita Singh will work on isolation and screening of thermophilic cellulase producing fungi from Jammu region and utilization of agro-industrial residues as substrate for production of cellulase and xylanase enzymes under solid state and submerged fermentation. Prof. H. S. Sehgal, Head of the Department, informed that the results obtained from this project will be useful in pulp and paper, textile, laundry, enzymatic conversion of renewable cellulosic biomass, biofuel production, food and feed industry, brewing, and agriculture. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima, Central University of Jammu, congratulated Dr. Anita Singh for having been awarded the grant.
