CSIR-IIIM organises floral drawing, painting competition for children

JAMMU: As part of the annual Flower Show event, the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) today conducted the Floral Drawing and Painting Competition for school children. The event saw enthusiastic participation from school children across different age groups. More than 400 students from various schools in the Jammu region of J&K took part in this floral painting competition. The contest was divided into three age categories: Group A (5-8 years), Group B (9-12 years), and Group C (13-16 years). Participants created vibrant floral-themed artworks, making the event a colourful and engaging experience.
The competition provided young artists with a platform to showcase their creativity while encouraging artistic expression. It was open to all school students, ensuring wide participation. This programme was a part of “Flower Show cum Farmer Conclave” that will organized at CSIR-IIIM, main campus on 8th-9th March 2025. The prize distribution of the today’s winners will be held in the main Flower Show event on 9th March. Three participants of each group will be chosen for prizes.
The program was conducted under the supervision of Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu. He explained the need to such programs in creating awareness towards nature and environment. He told that these activities are being carried out as part of the Floriculture Mission, which is an important societal program of the institute. The organizing secretary Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Head, Plant Sciences and Agrotechnology Division also detailed other activities that are being organized under this event and called upon greater participation of general public in the flower show.Scientists, staff and scholars including Dr Rajendra Bhanwaria, Dr VP Rahul, Dr Ravail Singh, Dr Srinivas Kota, Dr Manu Khajuria, Rajendra Gochar, Rajinder Sharma, Aakash Verma, Yadunandan Sen of the Plant Science Division were present to conduct and oversee the event and support the participants.
