CS stresses on meeting targets under PMAY (G)

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo emphasized the need for the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) Department to meet housing targets under PMAY-Grameen and other related schemes. Attended by key officials including the MD of JKRLM and DG of Rural Sanitation, the meeting focused on developing strategies to achieve these targets. Dulloo stressed that since funding is available, the Department must demonstrate timely progress.
He advised JKRLM to fully utilize the potential of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), minimize gaps between funds received and disbursed, and link SHGs with financial institutions for job creation. Regarding Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), he called for durable sanitation assets and a model to sustain sanitation activities in ODF+ villages. Secretary RD&PR Shahid Iqbal Choudhary reported significant progress, including the completion of 228,031 houses out of a target of 335,275. He also highlighted the distribution of various funds and the roadmap for completing ongoing projects by March 2025.
MD JKRLM updated on SHG formation, fund disbursement, and the introduction of the Lok Operating System (LoKOS) for efficient management. SBM-G Phase-II aims to sustain ODF status with progress in IHHL construction and waste management initiatives.
