SRINAGAR: To ensure speedy disbursement of relied among the flood affected people in the valley besides ensuring rehabilitation operation in view of the ensuing winter, the Chief Secretary (CS), Muhammad Iqbal Khanday convened a high level meeting of officers at winter secretariat here today.
The Chief Secretary was apprised about the status of relief and rehabilitation process being carried out in the valley to provide succor to the flood affected people by the Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts of Valley through video conferencing.
Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Administrative Secretaries of various departments including GAD, Revenue, CAPD, Health, PHE, R&B and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar besides HoDs of various departments attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary directed construction of 500 temporary shelters for the flood affected families to be identified by the concerned Deputy Commissioners. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to submit bank account numbers of the seriously injured persons during the floods to Secretary Revenue for speedy compensation to affectees.
Appreciating the demolishing of illegal structures on the banks of Dood Ganga, Khanday enjoined upon the Deputy Commissioners and Commissioner SMC to expedite the demolishing of illegal structures on banks of rivers and flood channels.
Khanday exhorted upon all the Deputy Commissioners of the valley that relief and rehabilitation process should be given top priority so that necessary succor can be provided to affected families before the ensuing winter.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the availability of essentials, K-oil and LPG cylinders in the Valley. The Chief Secretary was informed that adequate stocks of food grains like rice, atta, besides petroleum products have been dumped in far flung areas including Karnah, Keran, Gurez, Leh and Kargil. Khanday directed early commissioning of LPG bottling plant at Pampore to its optimum capacity which was severely damaged during the floods.
Khanday while taking brief on the account of restoration of electricity and drinking water supply was informed that cent percent electricity and water supply have been restored throughout the valley.
