Crude oil remains down in futures trade on weak Asian cues

brent oilCrude oil futures fell by 0.32 per cent to Rs 3,669 per barrel today as traders trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in Asian trade where it sank to a fresh five-year low.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in January next year traded Rs 14, or 0.32 per cent, down at Rs 3,669 per barrel in 425 lots.

In a likewise manner, oil for December delivery moved down by Rs 13, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 3,625 per barrel in 1,798 lots.

The trading sentiment eased at futures trade after crude oil prices dipped to a fresh five-year low in Asian trade today, analysts said.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for January delivery fell 25 cents to USD 57.56, while Brent crude for January was down one cent to USD 61.84 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in mid-morning trade.
