JAMMU: Demanding a full-fledged fire station at Khour, the former Deputy Chief Minister (DyCM) Tara Chand on Sunday criticised the BJP government for neglecting the villagers of this border sector. Crops worth crores of rupees have been gutted in the fire due to severe heat in villages Nikobal and Chak Malal in this border sector.
After visiting the fire hit areas, former DyCM Tara Chand assured the villagers that he will bring this loss into the notice of Chief Minister so that the poor villagers are compensated.
Such incidents happen every year in this drought hit area, said Tara Chand adding “Earlier two vehicles of fire station used to remain stationed at Police Station Khour and Police Post Pargwal to meet any such emergency in summer.”
Even Congress government had sanctioned a Fire Station for Khour to safe crops during this season, informed Tara Chand, adding that the BJP government has totally ignored the demands of the people of border villagers of Jammu region.
Local villagers also apprised the former DyCM about the damaged irrigation canal in the entire area. Water through irrigation canal could not be supplied properly. Livelihood of people residing in this border belt depends upon the agriculture, said Tara Chand while appealing to the government to give directions to the concerned authorities so that poor villagers are not kept deprived of the basic facilities required for crops cultivation. The central government is boosting everyday about the various schemes launched for the villagers. But in Jammu, the state government is giving step-motherly treatment to the people of Jammu region, ex-DyCM said.”I spoke to Director General Fire Services and he has agreed to depute three fire tenders at Pargwal,” said ex DyCM Tara Chand.Besides congress block presidents, Sarpanches, Panches and committee members visited the entire area.
