Dear Editor,
The TSR Subramanian Committee, dominated by bureaucrats, has made many recommendations to improve the quality of education. They include the formation of an all-India service in the area of education. The Indian Education Service, abolished in India in 1921, is a long-standing need. But the bureaucratic framework has always played it down, though many commissions and committees have made strong pleas for its formation. It is high time that the service is created in teaching as well as administration to transform education.
