CRB reviews progress of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link

JAMMU: A.K Mital, Chairman Railways Board (CRB) and R.K Kulshrestha, General Manager Northern Railway reviewed progress of ongoing works on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project here on Saturday.
Mital along with Kulshrestha visited USBRL project in Jammu and Kashmir State on 24th February, 2017 to hold works review meeting on project. They will carry out deliberations till 26th February.
Mital arrived at Katra on 24th February and after preliminary deliberations with Chief Administrative Officer/USBRL, held a detailed review meeting at Patnitop today.
The CAO/USBRL gave a detailed presentation of ongoing works of tunnels and bridges on project.
The CAO mentioned that USBRL is the most challenging and daunting project undertaken post independence. In the last one year, all major contracts of tunnels and bridges have been finalised. He further apprised that the issue of construction of mega Bridge across Anji River has been resolved and all contracts of detailed design and construction have been awarded. He elaborated that Anji Bridge is being constructed as Cable Stayed Bridge and will be a major engineering marvel of the world.
During the course of presentations, Mital reviewed progress of work of all tunnels and bridges and held detailed deliberations with CMD/IRCON and CMD/KRCL.
While appreciating the good work done in last one year, Chairman Railway Board instructed CMD/IRCON and CMD/KRCL that ongoing works of tunnels and bridges should be monitored closely and should be completed well within defined targets.
