Crash Games: India’s Fastest Growing Casino Category

The brave red aeroplane of the Aviator crash game may still look like a tiny fly on the backdrop of the huge Crazy Time wheel of fortune or the blazing lucky numbers of Lightning Roulette, but its steep skyward trajectory may soon send Aviator and its likes above all other games that are current ranking champions of popularity in Indian online casinos.

Well, at least in player count, if not in turnovers.

Crash Game Maker Moves with Big Strides

Industry reports provided by SevenJackpots reveal that the products of one of the major makers of crash games – the previously widely unknown Spribe studio, enjoyed a nearly 194% hike in popularity just within a single months’ time frame between July and August last year.

Moreover, SevenJackpots crash games data for 2022 shows that this game producer experienced a 450% growth in active user shares for the first ten months of the year, rising from 0.44% to 2.43% of the registered gamer count.

Search volumes for Aviator – the most popular crash game, and for Aviator-related terms, verified by Google Trends and KWFinder confirm that the red aeroplane has been maintaining its upward trajectory so far.

Other crash games like Mines and Goal by the same provider, or JetX and FootbalX by SmartSoft Gaming also show stable upward trends, especially after the end of 2021.

These are not High Roller Games

The maximum bet in Aviator is limited at Rs 1,000 and the biggest possible win is Rs 1 lakh, which also happens to be the maximum bet in the Crazy Time game show by Evolution, where wins are limited at ₹5 crore.

A closer look into SevenJackpots data on crash games show that for the trimester from August to October 2022, games by Spribe contributed 7.53% of casino operators active players (having grown by 66.68% compared to the active player share of 4.52% registered for the full 10 months between January and October), but only 0.87% of the operators turnovers (a growth of 44.2% from a share of 0.61%).

This discrepancy between user and turnover shares shows not only that people are spending a lot less when playing crash games compared to when playing other casino games, but also suggests that the remarkable growth of crash games popularity witnessed since the beginning of last year has been attracting new players to online casinos.

“As noted above, crash games have gradually evolved into a more casual alternative to traditional real-money games. This has led them to expand the vertical into various adult demographics and lifestyles. On the other hand, while their popularity is not limited to younger generations, crash games define a new-age gaming style – fast, light, rewarding and social,” a SevenJackpots report observes. If Aviator and the other crash games keep their pace as the fastest growing casino game category, we might soon see them become the most played games, but it is doubtful that they can ever be the biggest revenue contributor for operators.
