BHADARWAH: Bhadarwah Police launched a major drive against stunt bikers in which 34 bikers were Challaned and fined for various traffic violations and 16 vehicles most of them involved in stunt biking were seized on Monday at Bhadarwah.
The police, shaken after dozens of bikers were reported several times of performing stunts on roads especially outside girls schools and scared drivers and pedestrians, especially girl students.
Police officers said the drive had been primarily triggered after a group of unruly bikers were reported performing stunts near Girls Higher Secondary School every morning and evening, despite police deployment in the area.
SDPO Bhadarwah Brijesh Sharma said that involvement of two wheeler riders is often found in cases of eveteasing, harassing Girls and other padestrains and driving without helmet on the busy roads. We noticed that such cases usually peak at school hours when the roads are criwded. As a result , we decided to step up our drives against these unruly stunt bikers.
“We have challaned 34 bikers today and seized 16 bikes, most of them are involved in stunt biking, the complaint of whom we have been receiving for some time. The special drive against the voilators will continue in the interest of common public, SDPO informed.
“Our main motive is to take action against the violators and simultaneously also make them and others aware about the traffic rules, my appeal to the parents is that they should not allow under-age girls to ride scotties that too without helmets,” SDPO appealed.
It’s notable to mention here that a stunt biker hit a 12th class student on 1st June outside Girls Higher Secondary School, triggering massive protest by the girls against road romeos and stunt bikers, demanding stern action from police against these bikers.
