Crackdown on bovine smuggling 92 bovines rescued, 15 smugglers nabbed, 12 vehicles seized

UDHAMPUR/RAJOURI/POONCH/RAMBAN: In various Nakas, Police on Tuesday foiled various bovine smuggling bids rescuing 92 bovines, arrested 15 smugglers and seized 12 vehicles.
According to a report, based on reliable information, a party of Police Station Udhampur led by SHO laid a surprise Naka on NHW near Jakhani in the wee hours and intercepted three Tata Mobiles bearing Registration No. JK02AT/4552, JK02AJ/4666, and JK14B/0387.
During the search of said vehicles, police recovered 19 bovines packed inside it. The accused driver namely Mohd Kabir son of Shah Jaman resident of Mahore, Jamal Din son of Fazal Din resident of Gole Gujral Jammu and Muzaffar Hussain son of Gulam Hussain resident of were arrested on the spot and vehicles seized. A case under FIR No. 178/2015 section 188/RPC, 3PCA was registered at Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Rajouri Police led by SHO Yash Paul Singh laid a Naka at Muradpur and signaled a Tata mobile (JK11A-1398) to halt but the vehicle jumped the Naka. After chasing the vehicle, police managed to nab the driver and on searching the vehicle it was found loaded with three bovines. The driver was arrested who was identified as Mohd Younis son of Maqbool Hussain resident of Lah, Thanamandi. A case under FIR No. 272/2015 section 279/429/188 RPC was registered at Police Station Rajouri.
Similarly continuing its drive against bovine smugglers, District Police Poonch laid multiple Nakas at various places in the district to prevent the illegal transportation of Bovines to the Valley especially on Mughal Road. Police parties headed by Reyaz Ahmed Tantray-DySP Surankote, SI Zaheer Mushtaq of PS Surankote and SI Amrit Katoch of PP Behramgalla under the supervision of Amit Gupta- ASP Poonch, S. Jatinder Singh Johar SSP Poonch and Ashok Kumar Atri-IPS DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, rescued 68 bovines, arrested 10 bovine smugglers and seized seven vehicles used for illegal smuggling of bovine animals to the Valley through Mughal Road. The recoveries were affected at Buffliaz and Behramgalla on Mughal Road.
In this regard four cases have been registered at Police Station Surankote i.e. FIR No. 101,102,103 and 104 of 2015 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA against the accused persons. The investigations are going on to unearth the nexus which is being used for illegal transportation of bovine animals to the Valley via Mughal Road.
Meanwhile, District Police Ramban foiled a bid of bovine smuggling at Banihal on Tuesday. According to a report, a police party led by SI Mohd Irfan, In-Charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohd Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar, laid a special Naka at Naugam and stopped an Auto (JK19 – 2513) for checking. During checking of vehicle, two bovines were found loaded in a cruel manner.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle, Umar Mazid son of Abdul Mazid Beigh resident of Ashar Banihal, district Ramban was arrested and a case under FIR No.69/2015 section 188 RPC 3PCA Act was registered at Police Station Banihal.
