CPPWU demands for starting work on Keroo, Pakal Dul Hydroelectric projects

KISHTWAR: Chinar Power Projects Workers Union District Kishtwar held a meeting under its Chairmanship of Joginder Bhandari where issues related to the starting of Keroo & Pakal Dul Hydroelectric projects were discussed.
The participants said that there is unrest among the unemployed youths due to the long delay in starting of these projects.
Joginder Bhandari chairman CPPWU while speaking on the occasion said that these two projects were handed over to the Chenab valley Power Projects ( Joint venture of NHPC, JKSPDC and PTC ) in the year 2011 but since a long period stands elapsed, the work has not so far been taken up for execution for which brewing resentment is prevailing among the skilled , semi-skilled and unskilled unemployed youths. He said even the labourers were not getting labouring work since all the developmental activities stands effected due to the unrest in Kashmir.
Bhandari has demanded that the office of the Chairman, Managing Director and General Managers of CVPP should function at Kishtwar where sites of Pakal Dul, Kero, Kawar and stage 2nd of Dul Hasti hydroelectric projects are situated but their offices have been established at Jammu and Srinagar and huge amount of rent is being paid in respect of accommodations which is huge loss to the state exchequer.
He also said that crores of rupees have been shown incurred upon these hydroelectric projects but on ground level not a single brick has been laid on the work sites besides crores of rupees stands drawn on account of TA by the officers and officials of CVPP.
Bhandari further added and said that hundred of youths have been appointed from outside the state through backdoor at the cost of local deserving unemployed youths of District Kishtwar who are enjoying laxauries life at CVPP corporate office Jammu without any work and it has been noticed that these employees used to play games on computers during office hours since they have not been charged work by their bosses .
He said that funds meant for these hydroelectric projects have been misappropriated and there is no check on the account so maintained which needs to be enquired through CBI and the appointments made through backdoor from outside the state by CVPP needs to be also probed.
