JAMMU: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjeev Gupta on Monday granted five days police remand of Kewal Sharma, a ‘Crorepati’ Forest Guard who acquired huge property during his posting as Additional PRO to Ex-Deputy CM.
The accused Kewal Sharma, son of Gian Chand Sharma, resident of Kachrial, Tehsil Khour at present Patta Paloura, Near Petrol Pump, Jammu was produced in custody by DySP H.L Pandita of Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) for seeking further remand in case FIR No. 32/2015 of VOJ for the offence under Section 5(1) (e) read with 5(2) of P.C. Act 2006. It has been submitted in the remand application that accused despite prolonged questioning is not cooperating with regard to the investment of huge amount of money besides bank accounts opened in different banks from where large amount of money has been withdrawn in order to purchase moveable and immovable properties through on line transaction. The Investigating Officer (IO) has prayed for seven days further police remand for custodial interrogation of the accused.
The court after perusal of the CD file considered the prayer of IO which according to court seems to be genuine in the light of allegations against the accused.
Meanwhile, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu also granted three days police custody of ‘Crorepati’ TSO Shabir Ahmed Magrey.
According to the VOJ case accused Shabir Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed Magray, resident of village Thrintha Reasi the then Incharge TSO CA&PD Department who was arrested in case FIR No. 24/2012 of Police Station VOJ for the offences under Section 5(1) (e) read with 5(2) of P.C. Act 2006. The IO has submitted in the remand application that despite serving of questionnaire to the accused he has not disclosed source of huge transactions of money with regard to the amount of about Rs. 20,00,000 to Rs. 25,00,000 credited in his bank statement issued by branch Head of J&K Bank Reasi other than his salary and emoluments. To unearth the source of aforesaid amount and other immovable property including Benami which are disproportionate to his known source of income, the custodial interrogation of the accused is required.
