Court awards life imprisonment for murder

JAMMU: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Deepak Sethi on Saturday awarded life-imprisonment to Chandar Bhanu Sharma for abducting and killing Ashok Kumar Kichloo, who was Assistant Director, Planning and Statistics Department. According to Police, the complainant namely Nirmala Kichloo, wife of Ashok Kumar Kichloo reported on November 30, 2009 that her husband, abducted by one Chandar Bhanu Sharma, is missing. According to her apprehensions, he has been killed. On the basis of complaint, a case was registered under section 364 CrPC. During investigations, police recovered the body of Ashok Kumar Kichloo from Muralian. After completing legal formalities, the police handed over the body to his family for last rites. And, the police arrested Chander Bhanu Sharma, son of Manohar Lal Sharma, resident of Prem Nagar, Miran Sahib and after inquiry filed the charge sheet in the court under sections 302 and 457 CrPC.
The Additional Sessions Judge after hearing both the sides held the accused guilty.
The convict was awarded simple imprisonment for life under section 302 CrPC and rigorous punishment under section 457 CrPC for two years and ordered that both the punishments will run concurrently, subject to confirmation of the conviction and sentence by the High Court.
