JAMMU: Keeping in mind the changing scenario of the present day world, which is affecting the mental and physical growth of the child, a counselling session by Dr. Chand Trehan was held at Jodhamal Public School, on Friday in the school premises. The parents of the children studying in classes 1-5 were invited.
To prevent the formation of long standing emotional and behavioral difficulties, Dr. Trehan in her interactive session answered various queries asked by the parents. She discussed how to handle the dilemma, which the parents are facing while handling various problems related to their behaviour or discipline which sometimes a parent is unable to handle and needs a technical guidance.
She also stressed on making our children learn to make a difference in a good and a bad touch and should be able to share all that happens during the day with his/her parents. With the changing time schools and parents both need to travel an extra mile to ensure that these little flowers grow up in a nurturing and caring environment and this is possible only by working in collaboration.
She said that a child understands everything and does share with us and we only at times just laugh it out without realizing the likes and dislikes of the child and hence as parents everyone needs to take the child’s words a little more seriously.
Various issues like food habits among the children, respect and regard, short-temperness, hyper-activeness of a child, shyness along with disrespect and destructive behaviour were discussed and the right kind of parenting tips were given to the parents, so that the parents can prepare a plan and work on the overall development of their child.
The Principal, Trilok Singh Bist said that for a child’s holistic development school does play an important role but for the overall development of a child, it is necessary that the parents and the school should hold hands together and work for their betterment.
