Imran_KhanKolkata:- Amidst a row over corruption allegations against some leaders of West Bengal’s ruling TMC, Pakistani opposition leader Imran Khan today said corruption happens when political governance is absent.

During an interview to Ananda TV, the former Pakistani cricket captain was told about a recent sting operation purportedly showing some West Bengal ministers and legislators accepting money and questioned whether such people should be thrown out of the system like a batsman bowled out.

Khan responded by saying, “Corruption is like a tax on common man. Corruption destroys institutions, destroys merit systems. Corruption happens when political governance is absent. When governance is good, it ends corruption.”

He said in any nation to bring development and to do good work, there should be a control over corruption.

Khan said assets declaration is an important method by which corruption can be checked. “In this way, the people who are sitting in some big places and steal money, the only way to catch them is assets declaration.
