COPE launches sports campaign to eradicate drug menace

GANDERBAL: College of Physical Education (COPE), Ganderbal under a unique strategy to eradicate social evils and crime and to nurture local youth talent, has come up with a sports campaign under which competitions of various sports disciplines are being organised.
In this connection, COPE management under the supervision of Prof. Mushtaq organised an open badminton tournament for the male and female players of district Ganderbal. The tournament was inaugurated by the Principal COPE, Dr. Hartej Singh on Monday.
Dy SP Ops, Dr. Rayees Ahmad Mir was the Guest of Honour in the inaugural ceremony.
“The tournament is being played in both singles and doubles categories in which 12 teams in each category are participating”, Organising Secretary, Prof. Mushtaq said.
He added that competitions in other sports disciplines for the local youths will follow and this campaign has been taken up to keep local youth away from the drug menace and other social evils.
