STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Vinod Chatterji Koul on Wednesday rejected the bail application of a cop namely Mohammad Shafi, son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Khokhyal, Tehsil and District Kathua, who was arrested under NDPS Case.
As per the prosecution story, on 4th March 2017 at about 6.30 PM, police party patrolling in Ward No.14 near Shakti Model School, Kathua, stopped a motorcycle ( PB58F-5044), and on search recovered 100 grams each of Charas from the motorcyclist and the pillion rider who were later identified as Mohammad Shafi and Trido Ram respectively.
Thereafter on the same day, on the disclosure of accused Mohammad Shafi, 600 grams of Charas was also recovered from his room i.e. Family quarter No. 20, Police Lines, Kathua, which was concealed by him under the pillow of his bed. Accordingly, petitioner/accused was found in possession of total 700 grams of Charas, which is a narcotic
substance, the possession of which he could not justify.
Justice Koul after hearing Advocate D.K Khajuria for the applicant whereas Bharat Bhushan Public Prosecutor for the State observed that use of narcotics by youth is increasing day by day. This increase is because of easy availability of such substances. The youth, who get addicted of narcotics, spoils not only his own life, but of his family also. For spoiling the life and career of such youth, such persons should be sternly dealt with and their early release will encourage them in dealing with the supply of such narcotics. More particularly when one of the individual involved in this case happens to be the one, who is supposed to act against sale of narcotics, society can never be said to be in safe hands. With these observations court rejected the bail application.
