JAMMU: Contractual lecturers, who were on hunger strike for the last 29 days, on Tuesday staged a demonstration demanding regularisation of their services.
Arun Bakshi State President of 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Forum, said government is paying deaf ears towards their genuine demands and exploited highly educated youth.
Besides Vinod Kumar and Seema Rajput other who sat on fast today included two male and two females. They threatened the government that if their demands are not conceded at an earliest all of them will go for fast unto death.
“It is very shameful that these lecturers are agitating since 29 days and our government is having a sound sleep,” Arun alleged.
He said contractual lecturers have performed their duties with dedication and excellence. It is their humility that they worked for 10 to 15 years just for Rs 7000 per month, and at that time they were underage but now most of them have become overage.
He further said that it is disgusting that government has taken advantage of these Lecturers and made only fake promises to them about their regularization.
He requested the government that this matter should be solved on priority basis and contractual lecturers should be regularized as soon as possible and should be given salary at par with the permanent lecturers.
