JAMMU: On 40th day of their continues chain hunger strike, contractual lecturers on Saturday performed a Hawan and prayed for the early recovery of ailing contractual lecturers and peace and courage of others, who are sitting on fast for the last 40 days. The Hawan was performed by Mahant Keshav Dass.
The contractual lecturers were demanding regularisation as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act-2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all ad hoc, contractual and consolidated employees after seven years of service. Protesting lecturers said they were rendering their services in the education sector since the last many years but the State Government had followed totally apathetic policies.
Besides regularization, they also demanded
that their salaries be enhanced as per the latest Apex Court ruling for ‘Equal Work Equal Wages’. Anil Sharma, Gurjeet Singh, Kanchan Bala and Ranjan Bala also sat on chain hunger strike.
