Contractual lecturers hunger strike enters day 18, AAP extends support

JAMMU: Contractual lecturers, who were on hunger strike for the last 18 days, on Friday staged a demonstration demanding regularisation of their services.
Arun Bakshi State President of 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Forum, said government is paying deaf ears towards their genuine demands and exploited highly educated youth.
Besides Vinod Kumar others who sat on fast today included Sanjay Kumar, Shamas Din, and two females. They threatened the government that if their demands are not conceded at the earliest all of them will go for fast unto death.
Abdul Qayoom Wani President of All J and K Employees Association and Gurdeep Singh Sasan Chairman of Children Welfare Society and representatives of Aam Aadmi Party visited the hunger strike spot and assured full support.
AAP Members along with senior leaders Rajesh Bali, Bilal Khan, Rani Devi, S.B Bakshi, Rajesh Lakhotra, Tilak Raj Gupta and others met protesting contractual lecturers and extended their support to them.
They requested the government that this matter should be solved on priority basis and these lecturers should be regularised as soon as possible and should be given salary at par with the permanent lecturers.
