The bid to get the Kohinoor back to India, received a shot in the arm with the recent proceedings in the Supreme Court, following the filing of a PIL, seeking clarity on the Government’s stand on the issue.
As the Solicitor General of India is yet to present a formal reply on the government’s stand on the much-coveted treasure, it is amusing to see a concerted effort on the part of some political leaders to misrepresent facts, to project as if is the Government’s failure to get the jewel back. This only betrays the Opposition’s desperate bid to hit out at the Modi Government. It would be better if constructive criticism, rather than dubious one-upmanship, becomes the order of the day.
