Congress observes Quit India Day

JAMMU: JKPCC held an impressive function in connection with 75th year of Quit India Day here on Wednesday.
The function held at Congress HQ Jammu was presided over by G.A Mir and attended by all senior functionaries of PCC besides AICC nominees, leaders of frontal organisations, DCC and BCCs of Jammu district and other senior leaders of the party.
The party senior leaders recalled the freedom struggle and the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and other stalwarts of INC and the entire rank and file of the party, who went to jails and suffered and sacrificed on the call of Mahatma Gandhi, issued on the evening August 8, 1942 at Bombay Session of Congress, to launch Bharat Chhoro Andolan from August 9, 1942.
Mir remembered the freedom fighters and entire stalwarts of Congress under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, who were arrested but the countrymen forced the British rulers to ultimately Quit India.
Senior Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma, Vice Presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla and AICC nominees Deepak Rathode besides Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and DCC President Anil Chopra spoke on the occasion. Prominent persons present included Kanta Bhan, M.S Niaz, Ch. Mohd. Akram (MLA), Rajnish Sharma, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Manmohan Singh, Balwan Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manjit Singh, Namrata Sharma, Faqir Nath, Vijay Yadav-DRO, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Parkash Sharma, G.L Chalotra, Y.V Sharma, Maheshwar Singh, Indu Pawar (Mahila President) B.S Sambyal (Seva Dal Chief), Neeraj Kundan (NSUI President)
Sham Lal Sharma while speaking on the occasion remembered the great leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and Congress stalwarts of the time and recalled the sufferings and sacrifices of lakhs of countrymen under the leadership of Gandhi ji and Congress Party.
Raman Bhalla also recalled role of Congress leadership during freedom movement and raised questions about the other parties and organisations to explain their role and contributions in the freedom movement.
