Congress to hold Dharna near RBI on Jan 18 against demonetisation

JAMMU: Congress would hold a sit in Dharna in front of RBI, Jammu on 18th January, as part of the nationwide protest over the issue of demonetisation.
A meeting of Executive Committee of JKPCC was held here today under the chairmanship of PCC Chief G.A. Mir while AICC Senior leader Chief Coordinator of J and K State Imran Kidwai was Chief Guest.
The meeting discussed series of programmes as per the AICC schedule over the issue of demonetisation, following the national convention of senior leaders of the party from all over the country held at New Delhi on 11th January, in which AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi besides other top leaders including former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh briefed the participants about the adverse impacts of demonetisation over the economy of country and hardships being faced by the common people .
“The Congress Party has decided to aggressively carry on the campaign to educate the masses about the fallout of the demonetisation and the failure of the Modi Government to explain the failures of the claims made in this regards and answer the issues raised by the Congress Party especially AICC Vice president,” Imran Kidwai said. Since the adverse effects of this move is being felt in almost all sectors and sections of the society now, he said, the Congress would intensify its campaign in this regard and launch a series of programmes in coming days, which include State level leaders conventions on 30th January, followed by districts and assembly level programmes to educate and aware the public about various aspects of the situation which has been witnessed in past, in next month.
Imran Kidwai lashed at the Modi government and BJP for trying to distort the history and mislead the nation about the contributions of the Congress Party. The recent incident of the replacing the photograph of the Father of Nation from the Khadi, campaign by photograph of Modi and other highly insulting comments by some BJP leaders, was termed as a great insult to Father of Nation.
Ex PCC-President Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Senior Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma, CLP Leader Rigzin Jora, Taj-Mohiuddin, Vice Presidents Raman Bhalla, G. M Saroori, Haji Rasheed, Kanta Bhan, former Ministers M.S Niaz and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
