Congress, farmers protest against demonetisation

VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary Manjit Singh on Saturday staged protest against the demonetisation and submitted a memorandum to the SDM.
Led by Manjit Singh, large number of farmers and other party workers, the Congress workers held a demonstration here and demanded reply from Prime Minister Narindra Modi for his silence over the questions raised by AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion, JKPCC General Secretary said, the people have been befooled with the false promises and then, by the demonetisation.
“Only rich and big business houses have been benefited with the demonetisation, while the poor and farmers remained worst suffers,” he said, adding that the people who don’t have black money have been standing in long queues but the BJP leaders are enjoying.
He said that many news reports have exposed the hollow slogans of BJP and their drive against black money. “The militants who were killed in Kashmir in the recent past had Rs 2,000 notes which show how much the demonetisation has been successful in curbing back money or fake currency. Modi Government has been exposed with its double standard,” he added. Later, Manjit Singh led protesters submitted a memorandum to the SDM and demanded reply from the Prime Minister Narindra Modi to the questions raised by the AICC Vice President.
