JAMMU: Congress on Sunday extended full support to struggle of POJK DPs for their major demands of 1/3rd share in the assembly seats reserved for POJK areas, sanction and release of full package of 2014 recommended by then state government and grant of Pahari speaking reservation, being denied illegally and inclusion of 5300 families for all due benefits, presently settled outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing his views before the gathering of different political parties and social organisations at R S Pura, Sharma extended support to the major demands of POJK DPs and demanded that BJP government should fulfill the commitment of allocating 1/3rd assembly seats out of 24 seats reserved for Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir besides sanction of full package of 2014, comprising Rs 30 lakh per DP family, reservations in paramilitary forces and technical institutions in the country for DP children and giving the benefit of 4 percent reservation under PSP category to them.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson said that a comprehensive package was worked out for DPs of 1947, 1965 & 1971,on the directions of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and recommended by J&K government in 2014 which was endorsed by JPC with enhanced financial component of Rs 30 lakh out of which only meagre amount of Rs 5.5 lakh was sanctioned.
He appreciated the efforts of some educated youths to come together and bring together DP organisations and political like Congress, BJP , Shiv Sena and other on the joint platform for the cause of DPs who are originally Paharis.
He supported the common cause and called for United struggle to seek justice to the suffering community.
Ashok Khajuria of BJP, Pawan Raina INC, representatives of Shiv Sena besides DP organisations SOS International Rajiv Chuni, Sharnarthi Action Committee led by Gurdev Singh, MJR-47 Suchwant Singh, various other prominent persons and intellectuals addressed the gathering jointly organised and coordinated by POJK Pahari speaking DP Forum, SOS international, MJR -47, Sharnarthi Action Committee at SV Farms R D Pura Today.
The first session was chaired by T R Shastri Ex Special Secretary JK Govt. and second session by Suchwant Singh Director, Retd.
