Congress aimed at political stability, equitable development: Bhalla

JAMMU: Congress Party needs not to prove its secular, democratic and people-friendly credentials as this party has always proved its mettle and characteristic of being the only party in the State which worked for the people beyond imagination.
This was stated by Minister for Horticulture, Culture and Congress party candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency Raman Bhalla while addressing election meetings at Laxmi Narayan Temple, Channi Rama, Chatha Pind, Bhatindi, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shahbad Basti, Belicharana, Kacha Talab and Bahu Fort in Gandhi Nagar constituency here on Sunday.
He stated that Congress Party aimed at political stability, solidarity, peace, youth welfare and equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions of the State including Gandhi Nagar constituency.
“Unprecedented developmental activities were started in the constituency with focus on building of roads, tourism schools, colleges, health infrastructure, etc”, Minister said, adding that Congress party alone has the credentials of being pro-development and it alone can meet the expectations of the people of the state especially Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Highlighting his performance as MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency, the minister said that the constituency witnessed holistic development, whether it will be health sector, education sector, construction of lanes, drains and roads, water and power supply, etc.
Bhalla disclosed that with commissioning of a number of water supply schemes in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, people are getting safe and hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened up and the whole constituency, today, is connected through a network of roads and lanes. Apart from this, around 25 tube-wells were installed in various localities of the constituency to over come water-crisis, he added.
Bhalla asserted that electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded, adding that around 15 schools have been upgraded to high and higher secondary level, which are catering to the needs of thousands of students at their doorsteps and all this happened due to the positive approach, sincerity and dedication of the Congress party towards the people. He added that construction of fly over at Bikram Chowk, 6 laning of Satwari to Kunjwani road, modern facilities at cremation grounds, upgradation of schools, opening of new playing fields and Public Health Centres (PHCs) and opening of 10-beded CHC at Trikuta Nagar are also some of the works done during his tenures as MLA Gandhi Nagar.
Referring to creation of additional administrative units, Bhalla said these have brought the administration to the door steps of the people who had to travel a long distance for their grievances to be heard.
“Multipurpose-cum-community halls were constructed at Bazigar Basti, Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Nagar and some other areas of the constituency, so that the people can hold family functions and social gatherings, Minister added.
In Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, various new departments were established including Eye Department, Dental Department, Dialysis Unit, Minister said, adding that OPD costing Rs 18 crore was also made operational in the hospital, which caters to the needs of thousands of people on daily basis.
“I am presenting the performance and track record of two consecutive terms as MLA of the Gandhi Nagar constituency allowing the people to draw their own conclusions”, he asserted.
“You (people) give me majority in the Assembly, I promise a new and prosperous Gandhi Nagar constituency where economic development and empowerment of youth, women and work force will rule the roost”, he added.
The attempts have been made in the past as also at present are being made by certain political parties to divide the society and besmirch the age-old amity and brotherhood of the state for power game, he said, while appealing to people to stand up against these forces. He asked the people to beware of the vested interests in politics who are out to grab power and subjugate the interests of people and the state for personal ends.
Among others present were Rakesh Kohli, Ex-Corporator Kamal Singh, Dheera, Shah Mohammad, Mulkh Raj, Vinay Jain, Bagh Ali, Rakesh Kumar, Diwan Chand, Romi Singh, Prithvi Mehta, Ex-Corporator Kulbhushan Sharma, etc.
Meanwhile, the minister also visited Sant Nirankari Bhawan, Shastri Nagar to seek blessings of Shri Ajeet Singh Maharaj ji.
Head of Sant Nirankari Bhawan, Shastri Nagar, Shri Ajeet Singh Maharaj ji in his speech appealed to his followers to vote in favour of Bhalla. “Minister had done lot to the community and worked tirelessly for the community, so he (Bhalla) deserves your votes in reward”, he added.
