BJP has given rousing reception to Farooq Khan at Jammu Airport who was very recently appointed as Administrator of Lakshadweep. Yes, event is worth celebrations. We also join in congratulating him.
In our opinion, BJP direfully needs some Muslim faces to promote party in J and K. This very man, Farooq Khan could have been more appropriate to be inducted in the party cadre to promote the base/foundation of BJP in J and K. Why has not it happened? Perhaps, the party cadres are wise enough to have taken up this very step of appointing him an administrator. Further, time may tell about his fortune, where he is given responsibility. We wish him success.
But we have some thing in mind to pen down here on the basis of past press reporting that somewhat still we remember during his period of services on important assignments as able police officer that what the same media reported in glorified manner about some of the incidences.
You readers remember the Chatisinghpura Srinagar the Sikh massacre. At that time Farooq was SSP of district Anantnag and Chatisinghpura was under his jurisdiction.
Also recall the Pathribal incident the area falling under his jurisdiction in Anantnag District. Then in a joint press statement with army the same police officer had narrated in press conference the elimination of militants jointly. Following pressure and public hue and cry, the all blame was thereafter shifted on army.
As SP Operation in Srinagar, many encounters were also ascribed as controversial. As DIG Jammu, some of the culprits branded as criminals in murder cases have been let off by the Court and some are in pipeline.
All this kind of incidences do happen during active and distinguished service of an able administrator like that of Farooq Khan.Now all this is past. Present is that he is an able administrator, deserve rousing reception that he got while landing at Jammu Airport, and further deserves good wishes and we convey him the same.
However, we further appeal to PM Modi to rethink his decision of appointing Farooq as an administrator. Better would have been that he should be given assignment to broaden the foundation of BJP in J and K.
