STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Congress will play the role of constructive opposition and will fight on every issue pertaining to people’s welfare and development.
This was stated by G. A. Mir President J and K Pradesh Congress Committee while chairing a core group meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee here on Monday.
The meeting witnessed threadbare discussions with regard to overall socio economic development of Jammu and Kashmir State. The meeting discussed relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people like business community, shopkeepers, SSI unit holders, common people (who lost their houses), Dal dwellers, hoteliers, farmers and orchardists, etc. The meeting also discussed the issue of unemployment.
Mir said that we (Congress) are highly concerned for the relief and rehabilitation of the September 2014 devastating floods and will fight for rehabilitation of affected people. He said that we will oppose the pick and choose policy of Government in distribution of relief.
Criticising the Coalition Government for its failure on all fronts, Mir said that instead of playing politics over relief and rehabilitation, Govt must act and deliver. “It should not shift the onus of its failure on the previous regime”, he added.
He further said that state coalition should focus on its failure and try to address the people’s problems as promised before the formation of government in the State.
“Congress Party will fight for people’s issues both in Legislative Assembly of the State and Parliament and at various other forums”, he added. He asked the Core Group Members to reach out to the people and identify their problems for redressal. He said that rejuvenating Congress party should be sole aim of every worker.
Those who were present in the meeting included Peerzada Mohammad Syed, Taj Mohi-u-Din, Haji Abdul Rashid MLA, Vice President, Mohammad Anwar Bhat Vice President, Farooq Andrabi Spokesperson and others.
