KARGIL: Protesting against the recently announced New Scale under NFSA, the Congress Councilors from LAHDC Kargil called on Deputy Commissioner Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan at his office and presented a memorandum seeking ration on previous scale.
The councilors expressed concern on the recent order issued by the Assistant Director, CAPD Kargil regarding implementation of provisions of NFSA by introducing new scale with 5 kg Rice and Atta per person per month for APL(NPHH) and BPL(PHH), and 21 kg Ration Ticket for Rice and Atta for PHH (AAY).
Conveying the public feeling on the change in the scale of ration, the delegation said that the people in Kargil were perturbed over this decision.
Talking to media persons, Councilor Pashkum Kacho Feroze Khan said, “Although we support any government decision based on transparency but we urge upon the government to consider the remoteness and meager agriculture production in Ladakh region in general and Kargil in particular and fulfill our genuine demand”.
The District Congress Committee has also appealed to Governor for revoking the order of the CAPD Kargil or putting it in abeyance until this scale is revised by the State to the previous scale.
Councilors including Zakir Hussain Councilor Shakar, Skalzang Wangyal Councilor Padum, and Mohammad Ali Councilor Shargole accompanied the delegation.
Meanwhile, Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) has also written to Governor for retaining the previous scale in ration distribution.
