Cong, NC candidates avoiding party leaders’ pictures on posters: Dr Jitendra
STATE TIMES NEWS
SAMBA/KATHUA: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said here on Wednesday that desperation of the opposition in the District Development Council election can be gauged from the fact that Congress and National Conference (NC) candidates, particularly in the Jammu region, are avoiding their party leaders’ pictures on the posters and are trying to woo the voter through a whispering campaign that they are also Modi followers.
Dr Jitendra asked, why the Congress candidates are reluctant to put up the photographs of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on their campaign posters and why the National Conference candidates are not putting up pictures of Sheikh Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on their posters?
Addressing a series of public meetings during the District Development Council election campaign in different parts of Samba and Kathua districts today, Dr. Jitendra said, each worker of Bharatiya Janata Party is proud of the fact that the party is led by the world’s tallest leader Narendra Modi.
Our candidates have full confidence and pride in including in their campaign posters the pictures of Prime Minister Modi, BJP National President J P Nadda and other senior leaders, whereas the Congress candidates are not taking the name of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, and the National Conference candidates are not even once mentioning the name of Sheikh Abdullah or Omar Abdullah.
Amidst thundering applause from enthusiastic audience, Dr. Jitendra said, on his way to the venue of the rally he found the poster of a Congress candidate with photograph of Late Rajiv Gandhi, but the aforesaid poster had discreetly avoided including photographs of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Will the next step for Congress candidates be to put up photographs of Jawaharlal Nehru and Moti Lal Nehru, he asked, and added that this in itself is a confession of their imminent defeat.
Lambasting those who criticise BJP candidates for mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schemes and welfare programmes in local body election campaign, Dr. Jitendra said, the benefit of these welfare schemes has reached even to the last village and last Panchayat, and every citizen is acknowledging the vision and concern of Prime Minister Modi.
Taking a dig at those who say that no development work has been done, Dr. Jitendra said, nearby Keedian-Ghandiyal bridge constructed at a cost of Rs. 150 crore is being freely used by the Congress, National Conference and other opposition leaders as well and if they are unable to see the bridge, then why don’t they drive through the Khads and Kucha roads as they were doing before the construction of this bridge?
He said, those who have to vote for us can see the change and the development and those who say that nothing has happened are only deceiving themselves.
Describing DDC elections not a mere election but a mission Dr. Jitendra said, the victory of BJP is a foregone conclusion but we are going among the people to bring awareness about the importance and utility of empowerment of local bodies through the District Development Council.
