ANANTNAG: Congress on Monday reiterated its commitment to overall development of the State and strengthening the people. The party also urged upon the people to defeat PDP as defeating PDP tantamount to defeating RSS and BJP.
Leading a mega road show in Anantnag, Senior AICC Leader Azharuddin (Former Captain of Indian Cricket Team) and JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir urged upon the people to cast their vote in favour of the Congress Candidate Hilal Ahmad Shah, for the fact, it is the Congress Party alone which stands guarantee to safety and security of the people.
He emphasized the need to strengthen the secular forces in the State as their vote to Congress candidate shall be a vote to secularism, unity, harmony and togetherness in the State. “Congress has never compromised on its stated position of safeguarding the multi-cultural identity, unity, harmony and togetherness in the country and has always defeated the forces posing threat to atmosphere of amity.
Mir castigated PDP for misleading people for poll benefit. He urged upon the people do not get swayed again by the tall claims and poll promises being made by PDP in order to gain votes. Taking a dig at the PDP for its utter failure on all fronts, PCC Chief said the promises and claims made by PDP during 2014 stand exposed.
PCC Chief lamented the fact that PDP made the people to vote for it on the pretext of safeguarding the special status of J&K, revocation of AFSPA, keeping BJP out of power and many other issues concerning the State but it has been proved that PDP staged political dramas by enacting different stories to hoodwink the people for the sake of coming into power.
Appealing people to ensure the victory of Congress Candidate, PCC Chief said that vote against PDP will be a defeat to RSS and BJP.
Mir cautioned Mehbooba Mufti not to repeat 1987 Polls in Anantnag, which has proved disastrous and brought death and destruction in the State.
