Conduct of Baseline Survey workshop held at Srinagar

SRINAGAR: One day workshop was organised on Saturday on conduct of Baseline Survey in Higher Education under the chairmanship of Mission Director RUSA, Mir Jahangir in the Mission Directorate office at Zum Zum Complex Ram Bagh Srinagar the purpose and methodology for conduct of Baseline Survey was discussed.
Among others Principals of various Colleges of Kashmir Division, as also the representatives from Directorate of Evaluation and Statistics, University of Kashmir (DIQA) Sheri Kashmir Agricultural University and Assistant Director Planning of Higher Education Department participated.
It may be mentioned that developing a Baseline Survey of the Students in the age group of 18-23 years is one of the components under the RUSA Scheme.
It was stated that presently the General Enrollment Ratio of Students in various categories in Jammu and Kashmir is 18 per cent. Mir Jahangir Mission Director RUSA in his address informed the participants the necessity of conducting the Baseline Survey before launching of the Vocational Program under RUSA so as, to fix a bench mark for measuring the progress and creating I maintaining a strong Data system at the State level which could eventually be integrated with All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) and provide the information to the National Management System.
In today’s workshop the focus of Baseline study collection of Data and Parameters fixed for the conduct of the Survey were discussed. Consultant RUSA gave detailed description of the Baseline Survey and methodology to be adopted for conduct of such a Survey.
The workshop was also addressed by Advisor RUSA who explained the parameters fixed for conduct of the Baseline Study and syllabus devised in the earlier held Workshop in Jammu and Kashmir Division for organized the vocational Programmes in the 20 identified Colleges.
The introduction of the RUSA Scheme in the State is centrally sponsored and aimed at facilitating the educated youth to start their own self employment related activates in various fields to be introduced in the identified colleges.
The Mission Director RUSA would co-ordinate with the technical institution of the State to successfully implement the scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
A committee of three members was constituted which included Consultant RUSA, Principal of a Degree College associated with the RUSA, as an Advisor and Assistant Director Planning of Higher Education Department, which would devise a format for conduct of the short term and long term Survey Baseline in the Higher Education Department to facilitate the introduction of Vocational Programmes under the RUSA Scheme as per fixed bench mark.
