‘Commuters suffering as Rehris, Pharis causing traffic jams’

JAMMU: President, Mandli J&K Surya Gram Vikas Samiti (Regd) NGO, Jaseel Singh Slathia has resented frequent traffic jams in city in general and between Indira Chowk and K C Chowk, in particular due to encroachment of footpath and road by road-side vendors (Rehri-Phari walas).
In a press release issued here, Slathia said that like other days, on Thursday also, a big jam on Indira Chowk-K C Chowk stretch, was witnessed for a pretty long time due to which traffic on B C road was also affected. In this regard, Slathia also spoke to SSP Traffic Jammu city, Shiv Kumar Sharma and explained the ground level situation, adding that neither JMC inspectors nor traffic police is coming to assistance of people, which are suffering a lot.
Acting swiftly, SSP Sharma deputed police cops from local booth who rushed to the spot and regulated vehicular movement.
Slathia further appealed to concerned authorities to ensure frequent visits of JMC and Traffic teams to ensure that no such encroachment is made by road-side venders, creating difficulties for people.
