JAMMU: Lieutenant Govrnor Manoj Sinha on Sunday expressed confidence that collective efforts will eliminate narco-terrorism unleashed by “the neighbouring country” in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha was addressing a gathering before flagging off a marathon here to mark the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” radio broadcast.

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said the top priority of his administration is to ensure timely redressal of public complaints.
Interacting with people through the L-G’s Mulaqaat online platform, Sinha stressed on coordination and monitoring of schemes at the district level to fulfil the aspirations of every section of society. “It is a new era of challenges and opportunities and every citizen must be empowered to contribute to nation building”, the Lt Governor observed.
On the grievance of a complainant from Jammu regarding encroachment, Deputy Commissioner Jammu apprised the chair on the matter and said that the issue will be resolved soon after verifying from the revenue records.
On a complaint of Anwar Hussain from Kathua pertaining to cleaning of existing Pond in his village, the Lt Governor impressed on the collective efforts of the residents in ensuring clean and pollution free surroundings of their area.
The Lt Governor directed SMC Commissioner to find an immediate solution for the grievance register by Samina Mufti regarding the inconvenience due to pungent smell from a dumping yard.
The Lt Governor also directed the senior officials to attend at least one event of the ongoing Kisan Sampark Abhiyan, training program launched under Agriculture & Allied Sector’s Holistic Development Plan.
Rehana Batul, Commissioner/Secretary, Public Grievances conducted the proceedings of the LG’s Mulaqaat.
Atal Dulloo, ACS, Agriculture Production Department; R K Goyal, ACS, Home Department; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners, DCs, SSPs, Heads of the Departments, and other senior officers were present during the interaction, in person and through virtual mode.

The Lt Governor also hosted a special programme to celebrate the programme at the Raj Bhawan here, terming it as a “historic moment” as hundreds of eminent personalities came together to listen to Modi’s “wisdom and vision that is guiding India’s developmental journey”.
The eminent personalities included young achievers, sportspersons, recipients of Padma Shri and Panchayat Awards; National and UT Level awardees; Self Help Group members, citizens from across J&K UT who have been mentioned by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in previous editions of Mann Ki Baat were special invitees at the event.
The marathon, organised by the Hindustan Scouts and Guides and the Dogra Kranti Dal, is one of 100 marathons scheduled throughout the day across the Union Territory to celebrate Modi’s monthly radio broadcast.
“The 100 marathons across the Union Territory will also raise awareness and strengthen action and cooperation against drug abuse and trafficking,” Sinha told the gathering before flagging off the marathon at the Balidan Stambh (War Memorial) here.
The Lt Governor said people from different walks of life have come together to fight the drugs menace.
“Today, the youngsters of Jammu and Kashmir have stood up against drug abuse. I am confident that our collective efforts will eliminate the narco-terrorism unleashed by the neighbouring country and lead the way for realising the goals of building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said, referring to Pakistan.
He said the Prime Minister has inspired the country’s youth through “Mann ki Baat” to overcome challenges and set an ambitious goal in life.
“He has brought together youths from different backgrounds with the single dream of nation building. India’s greatest strength is its unity in diversity,” the Lt Governor said.
Sinha said Modi, through “Mann ki Baat”, has inspired people to take pride in their heritage and acknowledge the remarkable contribution of scientists, teachers, litterateurs and artistes in raising India’s stature in the world.
Speaking at the Raj Bhawan later, Sinha said “Mann ki Baat” is the voice of 140 crore countrymen.
“It echoes their aspirations, dreams, challenges, success, failure, resolve and the new beginning. Mann Ki Baat is deeply rooted in our spiritual and cultural traditions and its ideas and ideals,” the Lt Governor observed.
The Lt Governor said the PM, through Mann Ki Baat, has established an effective and two-way communication with the citizens and made the Radio an integral part of every family.
“Dialogue is the soul of democracy. The direct communication between a statesman and citizens ensures that the foundation of democracy is strong, participation of citizens in governance is ensured and their voice is at the centre of policies,” said the Lt Governor.
Mann Ki Baat is the true reflection of Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”. It has empowered the common man to become a key contributor in nation-building, he added.
The Lt Governor highlighted the significant role played by Mann Ki Baat program in strengthening the spirit of Unity in diversity and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Mann Ki Baat since the beginning of October 2014 has touched every section of society and influenced behavioral change to shape a new social revolution. Mann Ki Baat is not only a powerful radio programme but it is also a source of inspiration to realize dreams and resolve of the society, he added.
The Lt Governor also inaugurated a Photo Exhibition to commemorate the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
Among others present on the occasion of flagging off of marathon were, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament; Balwant Singh Mankotia, Chief Patron, Dogra Kranti Dal; senior civil and police officials; office bearers of Hindustan Scouts and Guides and Kashmir Road Safety Foundation, young Scouts and Guides were present.
