Collective efforts pivotal for better policing: Rajendra

BARAMULLA: Describing coordination pivotal for maintaining peace and order, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar on Tuesday said that collective efforts by the law enforcing agencies ensure peace and order in a particular area. He said that people’s cooperation is also imperative to bring innovations in policing. Rajendra, accompanied by Special DG Coordination, Law and Order, Dr. S. P Vaid, was addressing jawans and officers of North Kashmir Range at a police Durbar in District Police Lines Baramulla on Tuesday.
“Safety and security of the people has remained prime concern for Jammu and Kashmir Police and strenuous efforts in coordination with other security agencies, were put in place to thwart the ill designs of elements vitiating peaceful atmosphere of State,” he said. He added that JKP is committed for tangible bonds with the people, and provide them better policing. “Wholehearted cooperation of the people with the forces has helped in maintaining sustained peace and these relations should be strengthened at all levels to defeat ill designs of inimical elements,” said Rajendra.
DGP asked jawans and officers to utilise their energies efficiently and serve the people to garner their appreciations. Public is the main stakeholder in our fight against crimes and humane attitude with the people should be our priority, despite hostile situation in the profession. “Men in uniform” have to be alert for respond to call of duty, ignoring their personal comforts”. He asked for intensifying surveillance against drug abuse which is posing a great challenge to the law enforcing agencies and focus on qualitative changes, keeping in mind the advancements on security front.
Rajendra, later interacted with the officers of the North Kashmir and discussed various professional issues related to the police functioning in the Range. He emphasised for better coordination, efficient delivery and good public rappo is to make policing more successful.
IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani briefed the DGP about the law and order scenario in the North Range. He also apprised about the deployment of manpower for maintaining law and order in the Range.
Among others, the Durbar and meeting was attended by DIG, NKR, Uttam Chand, District Superintendents of Police, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, Ghulam Jeelani Wani, Shamsher Hussain, Mumtaz Ahmed and Harmeet Singh, SDPOs of NKR and other police officers.
