CME held on managing paediatric cases of epilepsy

JAMMU: Medanta Gurgaon in association with Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) organized a CME on ‘Managing Paediatric and complicated cases of Epilepsy’, here at Hotel Asia.
Dr Atmaram Bansal Senior Consultant and Epilepsy Specialist along with Dr Yeeshu Singh Consultant Paediatric Neurologist deliberated on the theme discussing several significant aspects.
The eminent guests include Dr Sushil Razdan renowned Neuro Physician of the country, Dr D.B Sharma former Professor and Head Department of Paediatrics, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Dr G.S. Saini (Prof ) Department of Paediatrics GMC Jammu and President IAP Jammu branch.
The keynote speaker from host Medanta -The Medicity, Dr Atma Ram Bansal while speaking on the subject ‘Advancement in management of difficult to treat Epilepsy’ with special reference of the J&K discussed various aspects of complicated epilepsies. “Nearly one third people with epilepsy continue to have attacks despite taking multiple medications. These patients need special investigations like video-EEG and special type of MRI like epilepsy protocol MRI. Many of such patients can further be treated by removing small point of the brain. This type of surgery is very successful to control seizures”, he informed. Dr Yeeshu Singh Consultant, Paediatric Neurology, Medanta Institute of Neurosciences spoke on ‘Paediatric Epileptic Syndrome and its management’. He discussed various common epilepsy disorders in children. Senior Consultants from GMC, ASCOMS and DHS Jammu including Dr Ashok Gupta, Dr Ravinder Singh, Dr Sanjeev Digra, Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma, Dr Romesh Gupta (MS-Super Speciality), Dr Sanjeev Khajuria, Dr Vinod Raina, Dr Goutam Goel, Registrars and PG students from GMC were also present. Dr Rajesh Koul conducted the proceedings while Sanjay Roy from Medanta presented the vote of thanks.
