CM meets Modi; seeks funds for KPs transit accommodation in Kashmir;Demands women police battalion, dredging in Jhelum

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and brought several issues confronting the State into his notice.
The Chief Minister requested for adequate funding for raising another battalion of women’s Police in J&K Police’s Executive Cadre and funding from the Centre for raising additional dwelling units in the Transit accommodation units for Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley.
She also sought extension of the special dispensation of 50 per cent quota for State Service officers to the three All India Services of IAS, IPS and IFS beyond 2013.
Mehbooba requested the Prime Minister for expediting the flood protection works and dredging in river Jhelum as envisioned in the Prime Minister’s Development Plan.
She sought immediate mobilisation of resources by Dredging Corporation of India and the concerned Union Ministry for expeditious dredging in river Jhelum and completion of other flood protection works.
She also sought pacing up of work on the DPRs for Vailoo-Singhpora and Mughal road tunnels by way of periodic release of funds and requisite technical help from the concerned Central Government agencies.
Besides, Mehbooba also requested PM to declare the stretch from Basohli to Pul Doda on the Lakhanpur-Mahanpur-Basohli-Dunera road as a new National Highway and initiate the DPR process for a tunnel at Chattergalla for providing additional surface connectivity to the State with rest of the country. PM assured Mehbooba Mufti that the issues raised by her would be expeditiously looked into and paced up for early resolution and disposal.
