VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary Manjit Singh on Saturday asked BJP-PDP Government to clear their stand on West Pakistan Refugee’s status whether they will provide them citizenship rights or not.
“BJP has adopted double standard. The party says something else in Jammu and does something else to appease the Kashmiri separatists. Their policies have put the Jammu and Kashmir against each other and entire State to suffering,” said Manjit Singh.
Singh said that the West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs) are facing crises and their issues should be addressed in a humanitarian way. “The government instead of clearing their stand, the coalition adopted a policy to twist the things claiming only identity cards and it has further deepened the crises,” he said.
Earlier, chairing a meeting of Displaced Persons (DPs) at Abtal village, Manjit Singh demanded enhancement of compensation to DPs from Rs 5:30 lakh to Rs 30 lakh per family as per the recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Former minister said that the money cannot compensate the suffering faced by the DPs but government should enhance the compensation package.
