Civic Safaikaramcharis threaten agitation from Apr 7

JAMMU: Civic Safaikaramchari Union and Driver Union, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), called off their scheduled strike with effect from 18th March after the assurance of district administration that their demands will be fulfilled.
“We held a detailed discussion with district administration where the officials agreed to fulfill the demands within a time frame following which the scheduled strike was called off by the Union,” President Civic Safaikaramachis Union (CSU), Rinku Gill told reporters, here on Monday.
Gill asked his co-workers not to listen to the false propaganda from the bad elements who are bent upon disturbing the strike which actually is a peaceful agitation. He warned the administration that if their demands are not met till 6th april, 2017, the employees will have no option but to continue their strike from 7th April for indefinite period till their demands are fulfilled.
They demanded re-organisation of the JMC, scrapping of NGO system in JMC, deployment of municipal employees in wards instead of parking lots, regularisation of contractual drivers, converting the services of casual labourers as PDLs, enhancement of wages, LIC cover for workers and Safaikaramachis etc.
