City Club, Ramnagar Club ‘A’ win 36th District Udhampur Boys & Girls Volleyball Championship

UDHAMPUR: The 36th District Udhampur Boys & Girls Volleyball Championship, organized by the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur under the auspices of the Volleyball Association of J&K, concluded with City Volleyball Club and Ramnagar Volleyball Club ‘A’ lifting the boys’ and girls’ trophies, respectively.
The championship was held at the Volleyball Complex of SIKS Govt. Model HSS Boys Udhampur, sponsored by the J&K Sports Council.
In boys’ final, City Volleyball Club defeated Udhampur Volleyball Club by 3-1 (25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23) while Ramnagar Volleyball Club ‘A’ defeated Ramnagar Volleyball Club ‘B’ by 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-15, 25-20) in girls’ final.
The event saw a significant presence of dignitaries, with Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur (West), as the Chief Guest, and Dheeraj Jandial, District Treasury Officer Udhampur, as the Guest of Honour.
Manoj Kumar Sicon, Commandant of 137 Bn CRPF, was the Special Guest. Ashok Padha, President of the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur, welcomed the guests, while Sunil Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the Championship, presented a briefing about the event and highlighted the long-pending demand for an Indoor Multipurpose Complex at the school, which is already under process.
In his address, Pawan Kumar Gupta praised the association for organizing the successful championship and promised to pursue the demand for an indoor stadium, recognizing it as a crucial need for the district.
The event was further enlivened by a Cultural Programme presented by Princeton High School Garhi (Udhampur). CRPF 137 Bn Udhampur, the administration of SIKS Govt. Model HSS Boys Udhampur, and the Lions Club extended great cooperation for the event, with sponsored trophies.
Amit Sharma, a National Volleyball player, conducted the stage proceedings, while the final matches were officiated by Naveen Sharma, Sunil Khajuria, and Manik Nargotra.
The event also recognized the achievements of athletes who brought laurels to the district. Pawan Kumar Gupta awarded cash prizes of Rs. 2100 to both winners and Rs. 1100 to the runners-up in both categories. Medal-winning athletes were also honoured, with additional cash awards. Dr. K.C. Sharma awarded Rs 1100 to Tarun and Aqeek and Upkar Singh awarded Rs 500 to Ravi.
Amit Chander Singh, General Secretary of the District Volleyball Association, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

Sharma, among others.
