CI security tightened in Rajouri, Poonch: DIG

RAJOURI: Claiming to tighten the Counter Insurgency (CI) security in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to ensure check on any sort of militant movement, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for Rajouri Poonch Range, Ashok Kumar Attri on Thursday said that security apparatus on Mughal Road has been tightened and traffic regulation is on priority to ensure smooth running of historic road.
Talking to media persons in his office, DIG said that, as per past records, it is being expect that with the melting of snow on hills, there can be attempts of infiltration and to ensure check on any sort of militant movement CI security has been tightened and police authorities have been asked to take all the steps in this regard.
“All the notorious infiltration routes are on tight vigil and police patrolling in all the forward villages near LoC, especially in Saujiyan and Mendhar sector has been increased” DIG Attri said.
When asked about Mughal Road, which will be opened within next few days, DIG said that Mughal Road is now an important road connectivity of State, between Kashmir Valley and Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu, and police has undertaken all the steps for smooth running of road.
He said that deployment of police has been made and several new Nakas have been raised on the road to ensure that security apparatus remains fool proof. He also said that with the chances of sudden spurt of vehicular movement on the roads adjoining Mughal Road, traffic mobilisation is being prioritised and range police office will also contact PHQ for creating a post of DySP Traffic Mughal Road to ensure that proper supervision is made on road.
