Chattergam incident has no place in improving security environment: Omar
STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah while condemning the incident of firing by Security Forces in Chattergam has called the Union Defense Minister, Arun Jaitley and asked for an immediate, transparent and time-bound probe into this incident.
Omar, while speaking to the Union Defense Minister, said that such incidents have no place in an otherwise improving security environment and serve as severe blows to the holistic efforts of sustainable peace and reconciliation in the State.
Omar Abdullah also said that justice in these cases should be swift and effective so that there is no cynicism in the minds of the people when it comes to their faith in the institutions of justice.
Omar also said that these deaths have served to vitiate the poll atmosphere already strained by the post flood reconstruction challenge that people face.
He also said that the Union Defense Minister Arun Jaitley has assured a time bound transparent inquiry into the incident to ensure action follows if wrong doing is established.
