Chatha blind murder case solved: Two arrested within 24 hours

JAMMU: Jammu Police, South Zone, has successfully solved a blind murder case reported on 16th March 2026 near SKUAST-Jammu, apprehending two accused within 24 hours. The prompt action and dedicated efforts of SDPO City South, SHO PS Satwari, IC PP Chatha, IC PP Gadigarh, and PSI Wasim Bhatti, under the supervision of SP City South Dr Ajay Sharma and overall guidance of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, ensured that the perpetrators were swiftly traced, arrested, and taken into custody, reflecting the department’s unwavering commitment to public safety and timely justice. Giving details, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh stated that on 16th March 2026, at approximately 2130 hours, PS Satwari received information regarding a male dead body found on a bridge on the road from Chatha to Miran Sahib. The deceased, a Sikh male aged approximately 46-47 years, had sustained a fatal injury on the neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Preliminary examination confirmed that the attack was deliberate, resulting in excessive blood loss resulting in death, on this FIR No. 66/2026 under Section 103 of the BNS Code and Sections 4 & 25 of the Arms Act was registered at PS Satwari.
During the investigation, SDPO City South, SHO PS Satwari, IC PP Chatha, IC PP Gadigarh, and PSI Wasim Bhatti visited the scene and initiated proceedings. CCTV footage analysis of the route from the spot backward to Miran Sahib Market revealed that a scooty, carrying a rider and a pillion passenger, had been following the deceased during that time.
Utilizing human intelligence, tech int, police successfully traced and apprehended the suspects, namely Davinder Singh, son of Nain Singh resident of Bhour Camp Ward No. 1 and Ravinder Singh alias Fathey, son of Amrik Singh R/o Govindpura Chatha. Upon interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime. Further investigation also revealed that the deceased had ongoing disputes with his spouse, which might have contributed to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
